- Shawzin studied painting in London under the colourist Martin Bloch. Ever the perfectionist, she would paint several portraits of each of her Ndebele, Herero and Mponga models and only keep the best one. Tragically many of her oil paintings were lost in a fire, making this painting exceptionally rare.
