A finely scrimshawed whale's tooth, English, circa 1830,
the obverse engraved with three quarter length portraits of lovers standing beneath a heart and ribbon held by a dove, the lower section with large bouquet of flowers in a vase, the reverse with portrait of a whaling ship apparently flying the Stars and Stripes, the foreground with whale chasing scene, leafy border and surmounted by flag and flower trophy. Weight 350 gms. 5.75in (14.5cm) long
