An early 19th century Swiss pearl, gold and enamelled snuff box,
unmarked apart from two later French eagle's head control marks,
rectangular with canted corners, the cover with a finely painted scene of a young swain in Classical costume offering a basket of flowers to a maiden in diaphanous gown by a ruined temple with a mountain landscape behind within a blue linear border and split pearl frame, the sides with panels of translucent royal blue enamel over chevron grounds with vase spandrels, the base with similar blue enamel within a black, blue and white border, length 7.6cm.
