A late 18th/early 19th century Swiss gold and enamelled snuff box,
maker's mark incuse M & P crowned and 20K, the rim stamped 274,
the circular pull-off cover with a central plaque of Cupid holding a burning torch and a floral wreath whilst dancing by an altar of Venus within a chased gold frame on a pearlescent enamel ground with a chased and enamel border of blue and white flowers, the sides and base with similar pearlescent enamel and floral borders, diameter 5.5cm.
