An oblong 18ct cast gold snuff box
A fine George III gold snuff box,
maker's mark incuse I A, probably for Jacob Amedroz, London 1802,
chased all-over with a coffered surface, each caisson centred with a stylised flower on a matted surface, length 7.3cm, weight 120.8gms.

  • The maker's mark is extremely similar to that on the proceding lot but is lacking a pellet between the letters, a particular closeness can be seen in the irregular left stroke of the 'A.' Grimwade mentions Jacob Amedroz of 6 Meards Street, Soho as having two marks I.A registered in 1798, and he notes, "His marks identified on fine gold snuffboxes," see page 229, London Goldsmiths 1697-1837.
