signed 'HELEN BRADLEY' and with fly insignia (lower right), further inscribed by the artist 'To Roger/for his twentyfirst Birthday/from Grannie, with love' (on the backboard) and further signed, inscribed and dated ''Now, said Father, ''we're doing fifteen/miles an hour'', and Mother clutching/the back seat looked very frightened, she/even had a tear on her cheek, so it frightened/George and I especially when we saw the/horses taking fright, poor Bonnie (the meek horse) who was usually so placid/dashed on to the pavement and rattled/all the milk cans. Dr Currie's little Black/horse got the bit in the teeth and tried to race/us but Ben the Coal Horse was the worst./He reared up and tipped the coal out./How thankful we were when we got/to the bottom of Spring Head and saw Lees/again and the year was 1909/Helen Layfield Bradley 1974' (on a label attached to the backboard)
