the square topped hood with well moulded cornice over a blind fret supported on a moulded section supported by four spirally twisted columns, the trunk inlaid with three boxwood and ebony stars to the centre and to each of the corners with star 'spandrels', all within a boxwood and crossbanded edge and D-moulding, on a matching base with stepped plinth, the sides inlaid with panels in boxwood borders, the 6.25 inch square brass dial signed 'Eduardus East' to the upper edge and 'Londini Fecit' to the lower edge, the four winged cherubs head spandrels enclosing the two-piece silvered chapter ring, the outer engraved with an annual calendar geared to rotate once each day and give the date against a blued steel pointer above XII, the inner with Roman hours and Arabic five minute divisions set within the minute band, around a matted centre, the weight driven movement running for approximately 19 days, wound through a square set below VI, with smooth barrel geared to an intermediate wheel mounted on a bridge set on the backplate, the rectangular plates measuring 7 1/2 inches by 3 1/8 inches united by four baluster pillars rivetted to the frontplate and pinned to the rear, the upper section shaped to accommodate the verge crown wheel with short bob pendulum 1.7m (5ft 7ins) high.

Buyers' Premium and Charges

A successful bidder at this sale will be required to pay Bonhams 1793 Limited ("Bonhams") a premium calculated as follows:
25% on the first £100,000 of the hammer price
20% on the excess of £100,001 and up to £2,000,000 of the hammer price
12% on the excess of £2,000,001 of the hammer price

VAT at 20% will be payable on the amount of the premium.

The premium is payable for the services to be provided by Bonhams in the Buyer's Agreement which is contained in the catalogue for this Sale and for the opportunity to bid for the Lot at the Sale.

Payment Notices
