This work was presented to Mr Bristol (Divisional Manager) on his retirement by The Irish Supervisory Staff of The Prudential Assurance Company Ltd. and has remained in the same family ever since.
Inscribed Blasket Islands on the canvas overlap. An almost identical view of the Blasket Islands as in S. B. Kennedy, Paul Henry: with a catalogue of the Paintings, Drawings, Illustrations, Yale University Press, New Haven and London, 2007, number 878, p.273. Great Blasket Island is numbered 1237 in S. B. Kennedy's ongoing cataloguing of Henry's oeuvre.
