GREENE, GRAHAME. 1904-1991.
SECOND DRAFT OF SCREENPLAY FOR "THE THIRD MAN."
Mimeographed Manuscript, 118 pp, 4to, [Culver City], July 19, 1948, being the second draft of Greene's screenplay for the Carol Reed film The Third Man, housed in original blue brad-bound wraps lettered in typescript, [copy no] 17 added in blue typescript, very minor to leaves, otherwise fine.
Released in 1949, The Third Man is a classic cold war spy film, featuring Joseph Cotton as a washed up pulp novelist, Trevor Howard as the affable Major Calloway, and Orson Welles as the mysterious Harry Lime. Directed by Carol Reed, the film was co-produced by Reed, Alexander Korda, and David O. Selznick. This copy is from Selznick's files, and features a very low copy number.
