Expertly restored, with large areas of margin restored, especially in the outer leaves, very little loss of text, including a few letters of the publisher's name on the title page, but the large woodcut on p 166 has been removed, resulting in a loss of text on p 165, stains, some minor restoration to binding.
First edition, presentation copy. This copy was presented to Edward, Lord Herbert of Cherbury (George Herbert's brother) by the editor, John Selden, and contains a Latin inscription to that effect on the blank facing the title page. Eadmer's manuscript, in the Cotton Library, is a chronicle of events from 1066 to the 12th century.
