    The former composition is after Claude's original work, now in the National Gallery, London,; that of the latter is after the painting which seems first to have been recorded at the Palazzo Colonna, Rome, in the 1790s, was later bought for the Bourbon collections and is now in the Galleria Nazionale di Capodimonte, Naples.

Auction Notices

  • Both of the paintings in this lot bear the inscription 'Landscape and Figures/ Gio. Maldura after Claude' on the reverse (probably transcribed from the original canvas). Giovanni Maldura (Rome circa 1772-1849) exhibited at the Accademia di San Luca, Rome, in 1810.
