This and the following two lots were purchased by Ms Lehner directly from the Artist when she visited his home in the early 1960s. One of the paintings purchased was then reproduced on a greetings card, a copy of which was sent to Jamini Roy.
The subject of this painting is the same as that which holds the auction record for Jamini Roy's work, (see Modern and Contemporary Indian and Pakistani Paintings, Bonhams, 21 May 2007, lot 28).
