  The story of "The Female Warrior of the Yangs"
  Most of the male members of the Yang family, an aristocrat family of the Song imperial military, sacrificed themselves in the battle between Song and Liao tribes. Lady She therefore led twelve female warriors of the Yangs to fight against the enemy and finally they won the battle. The most important character among the twelve warriors is the wife of Yang Zongbao--Mu Guiying, who was originally a bandit. She fought together with her husband in several wars. And she even became the Chief of the female warriors of the Yangs and suppressed many rebellions.
  
  《楊門女將》故事內容：
  宋朝將領世家楊家男兒大多在宋遼對戰之時犧牲了，楊家的佘太君便帶領十二位「楊門女將」請纓抗敵，最終殲敵得勝。楊門女將當中最重要的人物便是穆桂英，她本是山賊出身，後下嫁給楊家武將楊宗保；曾與丈夫一同作戰，又成了楊門女將的帥領，平定了各地叛亂。
  
  
  林風眠在1952年定居上海之後，常和關良一起觀賞京劇、崑劇和越劇，對中國戲劇和時間空間的關係，產生了濃厚的興趣，並結合皮影戲和畢卡索之立體派 (Cubism) 構圖，創作了許多風格新穎的油畫作品，展現出幾何形的複雜交錯之美；目的不是求人和物的體積感，而是求戲劇中綜合的連續感，兼顧時間與空間的表達。林風眠的油畫傳世不多，彌足珍貴。
