Morganite is the pink variety of the mineral beryl. Morganite was named by gemologist and then President of Tiffany and Co., George F. Kunz, in honor of J.P. Morgan, who financed his expenditures on the study of gemstones. The pink color of morganite is caused by manganese. A gem morganite if there ever was one, this beautiful emerald-cut stone has a rich, even pink color. Its fine transparency and exceptional clarity for the species would make it a fine ring stone.
