Exceptional Beryl, var. Morganite Crystal with Quartz Crystals on Albite (Clevelandite) Matrix
Papra Mine, Nuristan, Kunar province, Afghanistan
This is a room-sized display specimen of exceptional quality. To possess this degree of quality in a small specimen would be desirable but in a specimen of this size it is indeed rare. A deep rose prismatic morganite crystal, measuring 4 inches across, is nestled into a matrix of white bladed clevelandite. Well-saturated with a deep, rich color it is the "gemminess" of this crystal which is also notable. Accompanied by light smoky quartz crystals that recrystallized in the specimen's pegmatite environment, the longest quartz crystal measures 5 inches in length. While paler morganites may be found, to obtain one of this size, transparency and luster in such an aesthetic composition with its mineral associates is unheard of. A museum-quality specimen, this is an object of great beauty sure to be appreciated by collectors of every level.Offered on a custom-fitted Lucite base.
