Rough and Cut Collection of Nine Minerals

Nine unique gem materials are highlighted in this varied collection, which took several years to form. The rare orangey-brown carbonate, bastnaesite, is represented by a water-worn crystal from Pakistan and a long rectangular cut stone, approximately 3.20 cts. The sillimanite var. fibrolite is provided as a destaurated blue crystal from Sri Lanka and a faceted oval, weighing approximately 3.48 cts. Chrysoberyl is present as a chunky twinned crystal from Brazil and a yellow marquise-cut, weighing approximately 9.23 cts. The rough and cut kyanites are both from Brazil and both color-zoned in shades of blue, together weighing 7.43 carats approximately. Greenish-blue gem chrysocolla (impregnating quartz) is present as a polished and drusy free-form, plus four pear-shaped cabochons, together weighing approximately 6.10 carats. The rare purplish brown gem mineral painite from Burma is represented as a rough-surfaced crystal and a transparent faceted oval approximately 0.65 ct. Moonstone feldspar from Burma is represented as a naturally etched crystal and a domed cabochon, weighing approx 10.13 cts. Brownish green enstatite, approximately 26.54 carats and smoky petalite, weighing 13.15 carats, both from Burma, are also included as rough and cut stones. Largest rough measures 1 ½ inches long.
