Natural Pearl Necklace
Pinctada mazatlanica
Baja, California

When the Spaniards arrived to Mexico in the 1600s they were captivated by the gleaming white pearls found along the coast in the oyster Pinctada mazatlanica. The pearls soon made their way to the courts of Europe and became as important a commodity for the country as silver. Designed as an eight-strand torsade, this elegant choker is formed with a large number of natural multi-color pearls in hues of white, cream, peach, bronze, purple, and dark gray with peacock overtones, ranging in size from 10.42 to 2.46mm, completed with an 18K yellow gold and diamond clasp, total diamonds weighing approximately 0.65 carats, length 17in.

Footnotes

  • Accompanied by a Gemological Institute of America report number 2105599562 dated March 17, 2009 stating that the pearls are natural with no indication of treatment.
