c.1951/55 Panther 598cc Model 100 Project
Frame no. 25441
Engine no. 51M 1432B
The motor cycles made in Yorkshire have a quality of their own. Both the Phelon & Moore Panther and the nearby Scott were wholly distinctive and both today have a wholly loyal following. The Panther was originally the P&M, noted as much for strength and reliability as for its use of the engine as a stressed frame member. Post-war, the companys most famous product was the giant sloper single Model 100, which would haul anything which needed moving, provided it would fit in, or on, a sidecar. This Model 100 Project has no pretensions to be an original bike, though the components and spares had been carefully stored together. Rather than use them as parts, we hope there will be sufficient to start the process of putting another mighty 100 back on the road. Close inspection is invited.
