Correspondence on file from Mercedes-Benz UK Ltd states that this left-hand drive 450SEL 6.9 was manufactured in July 1976 and imported from France. The car was registered at a London address on 2nd May 1977 and then taken by its only previous owner to New York, USA from whence it returned in 2005 to be reunited with its original (UK) registration. Recent expenditure with renowned Mercedes-Benz specialists John Haynes Auto Technics in Worthing totals approximately £3,300 (all bills available). Work carried out has included fitting new front suspension top arms, strut top mountings, anti-roll bar link arms and track rods; checking and adjusting wishbone position heights; adjusting excess play in the steering box; and servicing the hydro-pneumatic suspension system. The braking system has been overhauled with new discs, calipers and pads at the front and new pads at the rear, and the fluid has been changed and bled. Other items that have received attention and/or been replaced include the power steering, alternator, ignition coil, spark plugs, washer pump, gear lever linkage, engine thermometer and air filter, while the cooling system has been bled and a new V belt fitted to the air conditioning compressor. Finished in blue with black leather interior, the car is offered with the aforementioned bills, current road fund licence, MoT to May 2010 and Swansea V5. The original French registration plates are included in the sale.
