A late 18th century Scottish Basket Hilted Broadsword
With thistle decorated basket, 83 cm blade with tapering double-edged central fuller over one third of its length on each side iron basket guard composed of slender waved bars of rectangular section framing round panels each with engraved crowned thistle shaped pierced design, riveted scrolled wrist-guard, later fluted oval pommel with button, and later spirally-grooved and bound wooden grip.
