A John Lennon and others likely never-before-heard set of reel-to-reel tape recordings, 1974
Two 7 1/2 IPS [inches per second] tapes with audio of John Lennon, Harry Nilsson, Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel, and other musicians rehearsing at the Record Plant East Studios in NYC for Nilsson's album, 'Pussy Cats,' that Lennon was producing at the time. Approximately 95 minutes in length, songs heard on these recordings include: Rock Island Line, Midnight Special, Wake Up Little Susie, Railroad Bill, Everyday, Maybe Baby (all with Paul Simon), Let the Good Times Roll, Send Me Some Loving, Baby I Want to Play House, Stand By Me, Give Me Head (improv), Alright Alright, You Can't Catch Me, That's Alright Mama, Well Alright (jam), Do You Wanna Dance, Dance All Night, Can't Get It Right (jam), We're Having a Party, Keep Your Hands Off My Baby, Stand By Me, Groupie Talk, Goodnight Baby, Johnny B. Goode, Slippin' n' Slidin', Whole Lotta Shakin', Mean Woman Blues, Be Bop a Lula, I Couldn't Sleep at All, Stand on My Face (improv). Some snippets of funny conversation and talk about the music can also be heard throughout. Included are two CD transfers of these reel-to-reel tapes plus one CD of highlights from it.
