the boy sits astride an elephant, a lion strapped to the elephant's back, below two palm trees, raised on a naturalistically cast base, bearing the Bergman stamp to the underside of the base, 23cm wide, 32cm high (9" wide, 12.5" high)

Footnotes

  • The very successful Bergman foundry was established around 1885 in Vienna by Franz Bergman. Bergman was born in Gablonz, Bohemia, which was then part of Austria-Hungary and currently the Czech Republic. His son Franz Xavier took over the family business registering the well known trade mark stamp of the inverted vase stamp with the "B" in the middle.
