signed Descomps, draped running female nude figure, rare and extremely fine, finished in silvered bronze, produced by the Etling foundry in Paris, 16.5cm high.


Footnotes

  • The sculptor Joseph Emmanuel Cormier was born in 1868, and used the professional name of Joseph Emmanuel Descomps. During his artisitic carrer he exhibited at the Salon d'Automme and the Tuilleries, studied under Hiollin and exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais, winning third class in 1921, second class in 1925, and first class 1928.
