Early painted red brick wooden dolls house, English circa 1820
The facade and sides are painted in trompe l'oeil, creating a convincing red brick Regency house, with steps to paneled front door and Doric portico, five sash windows with painted sills and glazing bars, black pitch roof, two chimneys, dentil frieze and carry handles to each side, front opens in two wings to five rooms on two levels, the ground floor kitchen with later painted cream walls, wooden floor and having built in metal cooking range, and wooden fire surround, having adjoining door to drawing room with painted duck egg blue walls, wooden floor, moulded fire surround and brass grate, first floor with three rooms, all having bright green seaweed patterned papers with pink borders, adjoining doors and wooden floors, original contents include four larger Grodener Tal wooden dolls , all in original clothes (two incomplete, one with replaced legs), together with four smaller Grodener Tal dolls and a baby, all in original clothes, (all incomplete), a pair of Evans and Cartwright painted metal dining chairs, (one leg detached), part hastner, pewter plates, wooden four poster bed, mirror and a small quantity of wooden furniture, (damaged), on a later stand, house 97cm (38in) tall, 113cm (44 1/2in)) wide, 50cm (19 3/4in) deep.
