The rectangular panel with lobed top and tapering base supporting two carved figures of kneeling deities, one holding a vase, and both wearing pleated sampots, the panel carved to both sides with inscriptions in Khmer script, stand. 77.5cm (30.5in) high. (2).

    Khmer steles, such as the present example, were carved to commemorate a religious foundation and were inscribed in both Sanskrit and Khmer, which coexisted until the 13th century, after which Sanskrit was no longer used.
