Franz Bergman (Austrian, 1861-1936): A cold painted bronze model of a Great Dane
the dog lying down, his ears raised and wearing a leather collar, with the Bergman stamp to the underside, 18cm wide x 9cm high
The very successful Bergman foundry was established in Vienna in 1885 by Franz Bergman. Bergman was born in Gablonz, Bohemia, which was then part of Austria-Hungary. His son Franz Xavier took over the family business, registering the well known trademark stamp of the inverted vase with the "B" in the middle.
