An Indian Export ivory chess set,
Rajhasthan, circa 1850,
one side stained red, the other side left natural, kings and queens with pierced crowns and spray finials, bishops as mitres, knights as horses' heads, rooks as turrets with spires, pawns with tear drop finials, in a 19th century mahogany box with the original green coloured lining (and a key of Gothic pattern),
the king 9cm high, the pawn 5cm high.
