Beda Anglosaxone authore, woodcut device on title and verso of final leaf, with blank A4, numerous 3- to 8-line woodcut initials, dampstain to A2-3, occasional light spotting and dampstaining elsewhere, title with ownership inscription dated 1582, Franciscan Library stamp at foot (repeated on last page and front endpapers) and Bodleian Library duplicate notes, contemporary English calf, covers with blindstamped border incorporating a Tudor rose, portcullis and crown, a griffn and fleur-de-lys, rebacked and recornered, with leaves from an early manuscript in Latin used as pastedowns, holes for ties and chain fastening, rubbed [Adams B452], folio (280 x 180mm.), Antwerp, Johannes Gravius, 1550
