A good late 18th century mahogany West Country musical longcase clock

The hood with tall swan neck pediment centred by a ball and spare finial over a dentil moulding, freestanding columns and a door with serpentine inner-edge, the trunk with long shaped door flanked by reeded front corners on a matching base with shaped applied panel.
The twelve inch arched one-piece silvered dial signed to the arch above the painted rocking ship, the engraved Roman and Arabic dial enclosed by thin subsidiaries four strike/silent and tune selection comprising 'Conquering Hero'; Psalm 113, Psalm 104, and harvest Home, the lower corners decorated with the figure of Brittania and a ship with further naval scene to the centre, the movement with thick plates united by knapped pillars with anchor escapement rack striking on a bell playing the tunes on a nest of eight bells and hammers (the pinned brass barrel bears an engraved title to the end Psalm IX and Grenadiers March). 236cm (7ft9in) high.
