An unusual Victorian silver-mounted and glass claret jug,
by John Figg, London 1856,
the slender body with a lower bulbous section and etched all-over with frosted trailing fruiting vine tendrils, the silver mount embossed in high relief on either side with a fox head in a simulated fur surround and on a ground of crossed riding crops and stirrups surmounted by a riding hat, the domed cover applied with a finial modelled as a running fox and standing on a simulated grassy bank, height 26.8cm.
