A fine and rare quatre-revolver 'Harpe Harmonique-Piccolo Zither' cylinder musical box,
retailed by J. Manger and Co., Geneva, circa 1883,
No. 16560, with four listed cylinders playing eight airs each, single-spring lever-wind motor, the brass cylinder carriage with brass segment captives held by steel screws, three-quarter zither attachment (part bridging piccolo comb), on gilt cast reeded bedplate in ebonised interior with dustlid, brushed steel control board to the right with ship's wheel carriage rotation, change/repeat and start/stop all with engraved and black highlighted legends, retailer's 'four-post columns' coloured tunesheet by Cuendet, fully inscribed and pinned to veneered and crossbanded lid interior, in rich fully-veneered case with the domed lid bearing small central mother-of-pearl, brass, ebony, kingwood and fruitwood diamond-form cartouche, the main panel of butterfly quarter-cut figured walnut with slight boxwood strung crossbanding in kingwood, repeated to the front and sides with additional carrying handles, ebonised moulded lid and base edges - 31in. (78.8cm) wide, the cylinders 13in. (33cm)
