Czechoslovakias National Arms Factory diversified into motorcycle manufacture in 1929. Company founder Frantisek Janacek began his new venture by building under license a design from the German Wanderer factory, combining the first two letters of each of the names to create the Jawa marque. In the immediately post-war years, Jawas 350cc two-stroke twin was also badged as an Ogar, another Czech make nationalised post-WW2, whereas the similar 250 was always a Jawa. Known as the Perak (Springer) on account of its plunger rear suspension, the Jawa-Ogar was also notable for a clutch that was disengaged by initial movement of the gearlever in a manner similar to that of the later Triumph slick-shift box. The Ogar name was dropped when the 250/350 twins were revised in 1950. This 350 Perak was restored in 1993 while in the previous owners possession and acquired by Professor Ehn for the Museum in 2000, since when only relatively few kilometres have been covered. The machine was last used in 2005 and is offered with owners manual and Austrian Typenschein.
