- Lawrence Durrell's scarce first novel, many remaining copies of which were destroyed during the Blitz. It was never reprinted, although a lengthy excerpt was included in the anthology Spirit of Place, notably the passages concerning India. The dust-jacket was designed by the author's wife Nancy.
