A magnificent and extremely rare blue and white bottle vase, yuhuchun ping
Yuan Dynasty
Of elegant pear-shaped form, the tall slender neck rising gently to a pronounced trumpet mouth, the sumptuous swollen body supported on a massively constructed splayed foot, vividly painted in underglaze-blue with a design of peony flowers amidst peony scroll, the threadlike stems with tendrils, some of the flowers still budding, others fully mature, all freely painted and evenly distributed throughout the large body, above a narrow border of classic scroll, the lower body painted with a broad band of lotus panels enclosing lingzhi motifs, the foot with a band of key-fret.
