Footnotes

  • The BMW Z1 is particularly resistant to corrosion thanks to having a chassis-tub made from galvanised steel to which thermoplastic body panels are attached. Most ingeniously, the model’s trademark doors slide vertically into the sills making access to the low-down interior particularly easy and permitting doors-down motoring if required. The well tried 325i 6-cylinder engine provides super-smooth performance up to 230kph (143mph).
One of 8093 Z1s manufactured between June 1989 and June 1991, this Boston Green painted roadster with Citrus part-leather seats with cloth inserts and dark green leather dash top was built in Munich on the 26th of September 1989. Italian registration for a first owner on the 16th of November of that year is confirmed by an Italian Ministero dei Transporti Targa number PG751728 and a copy of an invoice on file indicates subsequent Belgian ownership from November 2005. The overall mileage has risen to the 61,600k currently displayed. Also present is a Z1 maintenance booklet.
Having been made in the EEC and only ever registered in European mainland countries, being issued with UK registration therefore should be a relatively straightforward formality for this largely original example of a most stylish and collectible BMW, which, although sold in the UK, was never produced in RHD.
