Footnotes
- The Reference 5508 appeared about 1957-58 and is called the James Bond Submariner by collectors. It replaced the Reference 6536 and 6536/1, and this particular example bears a case back with the Reference number 6536/1 scratched out and replaced with 5508 showing the transition between the models and also Rolex not wasting case backs. It was equipped with the new Cal.1530 movement and was guaranteed waterproof to 100m/330ft.
