Footnotes

  • This model is referred to by collectors as the “Great White” (so named in reference to its white writing dial) This desirable early dial is also identified by it’s small, upright “ft” notation; later dials and service dials have the “ft” larger and in italics. It is believed that the 1665 “white writing dial” was produced in smaller quantities than the 1665 DRSD, making it a rare and desirable watch.

    This watch was purchased by the current vendor direct from the original owner who purchased it in Australia in 1980 it has had just been serviced by Rolex Australia and comes complete with corresponding papers dated April 2nd 2008. This particular watch has never been offered at auction before
