  • PROVENANCE:
Sale, Hôtel Drouot Paris, 20 June 2007, lot 48

The present painting is offered with a copy of the certificate from Dario Succi suggesting an attribution to Bernardo Canal. In his letter, Succi states that the composition of the present painting is loosely derived from an engraving by Bernard Vogel, after a work by Johann Richter, previously with Richard Green, London (see D.Succi, Luca Carlevarijs e la veduta veneziana del Settecento, exhibition catalogue, Milan, 1994, cat.no.70, illus.p.249).
