Footnotes

  • "THE FINEST WORK ON FALCONRY WHICH HAS EVER BEEN PRODUCED" (Harting). "First and only edition of a superb work...the life size illustrations of birds are by far the finest ever produced in any book on falconry" (Schwerdt). Josef Wolf's fine original watercolours for this work established him as a talented bird artist and he later received commissions from Elliot and Gould, who, incidentally, owned his famous painting "Groënlandais".
