Footnotes

  • Steve Reeves, a bodybuilder who won the Mr. Universe contest in 1950, was able to parlay his physique into many B film roles throughout the 1950s and 1960s. He influenced a number of "next generation" bodybuilder-turned-actors including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, and Lou Ferrigno, and he later became instrumental in teaching about the dangers of steroid use.
