A Bud Abbott and Lou Costello early contract, 1937
Dated "12th day of May 1937;" document outlines an agreement the comedy duo had with their manager, Edward Sherman, to perform a one-nighter in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania on May 23, 1937 with their compensation listed as "$20.00." Unfortunately, only Sherman signed it on the back, but this particular copy was Bud Abbbott's own; he had it framed and on display in his office for decades because, according to his nephew, it was the first time Abbott and Costello were formally represented by a manager. (Please note contract is now very yellowed due to age and has been folded numerous times.)
Framed: 11 x 8 1/2in
