A Marilyn Monroe group of miscellaneous documents, 1959-1962
Six altogether; 1) a typed note dated "October 7, 1959" congratulating "Mrs. Arthur Miller...on becoming a voter in Roxbury" from Congressman John S. Monagan; 2) a receipt from Martindale's Book Store in Beverly Hills dated "May 24, 1962" noting MM's name, her Brentwood address, and the three books bought - "Skin from Teeth / Capt Newman M.D. / O'Neill;" 3) another receipt from Martindale's dated "4-14" [1962] noting MM's name, her post office box address, and the "Webster's New Collegiate" dictionary her secretary, Cherie Redmond, purchased for her (as evidenced by CR's signature on receipt); 4) a birthday card from June 1, 1962 inscribed on the inside "Wishing you all the Luck and Happiness from your Electrical Crew of 'Let's Make Love'" (though MM's name is not noted); 5) a piece of notepaper from the Beverly Hills Hotel with penciled annotations reading "$10 to / maid's / room 814 / 9-13-60" (not in MM's hand though most likely her expense); and 6) a page of lined notebook paper with columns of expenses handwritten in pencil and annotated such as "Cash / Personal / liquor / tips," etc. (not in MM's hand but most likely her expenses).
