    Note:
    Mrs. Hartigan was a well-respected woman in the Irish capital during the latter half of the 18th century. Her husband occupied a prominent position at Trinity College in Dublin and her brother, Carlisle Pollock, was ranked one of the wealthiest residents in New York in 1795.

    The original painting is located at the National Portrait Gallery, as confirmed by Dr. Ellen Miles, and was re-attributed to Von Breda several years ago. This may be a version of the painting located at the National Portrait Gallery by, as yet, an unknown hand.
