A superb Pende female figure
Democratic Republic of Congo, standing erect with hieratic naturalistic face, beneath the parted ridged coif. The long arms bent with the wrists resting on the scarified abdomen; a metal ring around one arm. The legs bent at the knees. Overall remains of red pigment and some minor signs of stabilized insect depredation.
