A Kongo kneeling figure
Democratic Republic of Congo, the black stained cylindrical coif above a face with carved and stained brows, almond eyes, pupils and lips, the whitened teeth and red gums, the head set on a strong angled neck and rounded shoulders, nubbin breasts, the arms held in a posture with upturned palms, cylindrical torso with carved navel and loincloth, legs bent under, resting on a plinth base.
