This is one of 45 images the photographer included in his exhibition at Alfred Stieglitz's American Place gallery in 1936. The original print in the exhibition is now part of the collection of Princeton University Art Museum.

When he was about eight years old, Ansel Adams met Cedric Wright (1899-1959) whose father was an attorney for the Adams family. He and Cedric were best of friends for many years, sharing a mutual interest in music, hiking trips with the Sierra Club, and photography.
