Autograph Letter Signed (“J. Tyler”) as President, 1 p, 8vo, [Washington], July 20, n.y., to Mr. Cheever, regarding the latter’s refusal of an appointment, with integral autograph address leaf, leaves toned, creased, horizontal creases reinforced.

Tyler writes this letter to a key supporter of his candidacy, for whom his is determined to find a position. In full: “I regret that you are so circumstanced as to prevent your acceptance of the Collectorship at Key West. It is a place highly profitable and desirable. As it is I shall seek to make some other suitable provision for you as soon as I can.”
