Autograph Letter Signed (Father), 2 pp recto and verso, 4to, New York City, c.1927, to his son James Roosevelt, on letterhead of Fidelity and Deposit Company of Maryland, leaf creased horizontally and vertically, discoloration to center verso also visible on recto. Together with Typed Letter Signed of James Roosevelt, 1 p, 4to, Newport Beach, CA, February 14, 1989, explaining the circumstances surrounding the earlier letter.
Franklin Roosevelt writes this letter to his eldest son during the summer the younger man spent in New Brunswick, Canada working 10 hour days at 18 cents an hour. In part: Dear Jimmy / It is perfectly great to get your letters and to know that you are really enjoying it so much. I had a lurking suspicion you would as it is all something you hadnt any conception of! Roosevelt sends his son news of the family, and also discusses the construction of a swimming pool.
