Pitcairn Islanders copy, inscribed on blank preliminary leaf: To the Inhabitants of Pitcairns Island from the Revd W. Armstrong / Valparaiso February 3rd, 1848. Additionally inscribed Presented to G.E.G. Jackson esq / Nav Lieutenant R.N. By his affectionate friend / Jonathan Adams / Norfolk Island / March 1896. An unusual and rare memento of the Pitcairn Islanders, descendants of Fletcher Christian and the other mutineers of The Bounty, presented to the islanders by the Reverend William Armstrong, a missionary serving the community in the mid-19th century, and again presented by Jonathan Adams, a descendent of the colonys original leader, John Adams, to an officer of the Royal Navy at the turn of the last century.
