Fine photograph of Mark Twain, charmingly inscribed for Eva Nansen, the wife of Arctic explorer, Fridtjof Nansen [1861-1930]. Nansen became famous for his daring expedition to the North Pole on foot and aboard the Fram from 1893-1896. After WWI Nansen did humanitarian work for Russian refugees and won the 1922 Nobel Peace Prize.
